1 Great Personalities Anna Petrova: “She Makes This World a Better Place” Project Made by Anastasiya Deyneko Victoriya Spilioti Anastasiya Stadnik Form 10-C Gymnasium 9 Coordinator Lyudmila Katsura Teacher-methodologist Simferopol, 2012

2 Her father – Ivan Petrov was a painter of battle scenes and her mother was a sculptor. You can see one of her works in Simferopol. There is a Stella devoted to Pavel Dybenko, a famous revolutionary. There were two daughters in the Petrovs’ family: Anna and Olga. As Anna Ivanovna said, Olga was a designer. Olga studied at the Kiev Academy of Arts.

3 Anna Ivanovna is a well-known muralist and a restorator. Anna Ivanovna was born on September 15, 1962. Anna Ivanovna told us, that she grew up in the family of the artists, she had always drawn different pictures. Since early childhood Anna began to draw beautiful pictures. And even at four she had her personal exhibition.

4 In 1978 Anna Petrova began to study at the Crimean Art College, named after N. Samokish, the famous Academician of battle painting. She finished the College in 1984. During 1984 – 1990 Anna Ivanovna studied at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and at the Repin’s studio of monumental painting of the Academician A.A. Mylnikov. Anna Ivanovna also studied in St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.

5 She is a very creative person. She has got many monumental works. Numerous exhibitions were held in different countries. Anna Ivanovna had personal exhibitions in Germany, «Hay Hill Gallery» in London, Kiev and Simferopol. She also participated in other different exhibitions in Slovenia, Sweden. Anna Ivanovna’s last exhibition was held in Hungary. Her works and her father’s works were exhibited there.

6 Anna Ivanovna has created a variety of mosaics. She made mosaics for different churches in the Crimea, for example, the mosaics for the Foros church and for the Chapel in the Memorial Complex of the 35-th battery in Sevastopol. They are the best example of her creativity. In her works she used stones from different countries and places.

7 The mosaic of the mountain Cat, which is situated in the Crimea, was made of stones, gathered on the mountain slopes by herself. Anna Ivanovna prefers to make works from the Crimean stones, because they have a rich palette from white to black.

8 You can also see in Anna’s Ivanovna’s works the rare gems that can be found only in one place of the Crimea. The sculpture of Yuri Dolgoruky, which is situated in the Moskva House in Sevastopol, also is made of the Crimean stones. Anna Ivanovna also does some interior items. You can see there some constellations in Anna Ivanovna’s works.

9 Anna Ivanovna worked in Gurzuf, the Crimea, at the project “The Merchant Gubunin’s Resort”. She decorated the interior of the house. She depicted a starry sky with the constellations on the ceiling. The portraits of people whom this resort belonged, can be seen on the wall. Anna Ivanovna has drawn all the portraits by herself.

10 Anna Ivanovna told us about her plans for future. She wants to restore the old painting hidden under the lay of colors. When we asked Anna Ivanovna about who or what inspired her in works, she had difficulties with the answer. Anna Ivanovna also participated in different projects, for example: “Woman stuff”, “Artplatsdarm” and others. She took part in projects, which were connected with the exchanging of the experience with some foreign artists. She worked with the Germans and the Swedes. In 2001 she was a Member of the International Biennale of graphics Kunstshtatsion in the city of Fulda, Germany. When we asked Anna Ivanovna about her rewards, she said that the greatest reward of her life was an opportunity to be an artist.

11 We have chosen Anna Ivanovna as an important personality of the Crimea and Ukraine, because she has made a significant contribution to the creation, reconstruction and restoration of the monuments of history and religion in the Crimea. She works in the genre of the monumental painting, portraiture and mosaics. She made mosaics for different churches in the Crimea, for example, the mosaics for the Foros church and for the Chapel in the Memorial Complex of the 35-th battery in Sevastopol are the best example of her creativity. Petrova’s works had been acknowleged by many people not only in Ukraine but throughout the world. Anna Ivanovna has worked hard to make this world a better place.
