IPM Asset Solutions: Where Innovation Meets Experience

 Imbedded Technology  Analogous to an Electronic Bar Code But No Line of Sight Requirement  Data Can Be Encrypted What is RFID? www.ipmasset.com

For a passive RFID system, the reader ‘zaps’ the chip with a radio wave… …and the chip replies with its data. What is RFID? www.ipmasset.com

On an active system, the chip always chirps with its information to whatever reader is within read range. What is RFID? www.ipmasset.com

What is a Portal? A portal is a stationary reader that tracks the movement of assets. www.ipmasset.com

 RFID Tag Identifies the Individual Item  Will Store Custom Data  Readers Can Be Embedded In or On Any Device Within Range of the Tag – Line of Sight is Not Required  Reprogrammable Advantages of RFID www.ipmasset.com

Advantages of RFID  Provides for Accurate Asset Management  Provides for Timely Supply Chain Management  Reduces Cost of Performing Inventory  Applies in all Areas Where Tracking is Needed  Captures All Necessary Data www.ipmasset.com

RFID & Asset Management www.ipmasset.com  Asset Management = Data Elements  A “data element” is any item that is tracked, from a fixed asset to saleable inventory.  Track end-to-end management of an asset  Automation of Data Tracking  Auto-discovery tools  Ability to detect “static” information, which reduces the risk of human error  Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

RFID & Supply Chain Management www.ipmasset.com  Used in Association with Auto-discovery Tools – Tools used to discover, map, monitor, and manage network connected devises  Bridges the Gaps  Manual data becomes “static”  Turns manual collection into data that can be gathered electronically  Creates Accuracy  Data always stays the same  Reduces human errors

 RFID as an Inventory Control Tool  Guards Against Theft / Loss  Saves Time and Labor During Inventory Process  RFID as a Supply Chain Management Tool  “Just-in-Time” Inventory Solution  Closing Loop Between Your Customers and Vendors RFID & Supply Chain Management www.ipmasset.com

SALEABLE ASSETS RFID tagging of saleable assets allows:  A more accurate inventory.  Loss reduction.  More efficient Supply Change Management FIXED ASSETS RFID tagging of fixed assets allows:  Personnel to locate equipment faster.  Personnel to determine where assets are in relation to where they are supposed to be. Benefits of RFID www.ipmasset.com

RFID Myths www.ipmasset.com The Tag Has No Useful Information On It  The information is stored in a secure database.  The only thing that another reader can scan is a useless number.

RFID Myths www.ipmasset.com  If you use a credit card or a frequent shopper’s card, they already know what you buy.  Sending someone with a portable reader out to follow you around is expensive and inefficient.  If someone does scan the contents of your bag, the information obtained is useless. Someone Can Scan The Products In Your Bag And Build A Marketing File For You

RFID Myths www.ipmasset.com People Can Use The RFID Tag In My Kids School ID To Aid In Stalking  Stalkers can’t afford enough portals any more than the government can.  Portable readers don’t have enough read range to be of any use.  The tag has no useful information on it.

RFID Myths www.ipmasset.com Thieves Can Easily Scan The Tag In My Credit Card And Steal My Money  They have to make contact.  Having the number isn’t really enough. They need the code on the back, or the PIN if it’s an ATM card which is very difficult to obtain.  Many cards are already protected against fraud.  We recognize that skimming is possible, but feel the risk has been greatly exaggerated.
