Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was born in London on April, 21 1926. Five weeks later she was christened in the chapel of Buckingham Palace and was given the names Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. Princess Elizabeth had her early education at home. After her father succeeded to the throne, her studies include lessons on history and law. She married Philip Mountbatten (4th cousin) in Westminster Abbey on November 20, 1947. The Queen and the Duke celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in London in 1972.

Prince Charles (1948- ) Charles Philip Arthur George Mountbatten-Windsor was born on 14 November 1948 at Buckingham Palace. He is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Prince of Wales is well known for his charity work. The Prince is also well known for his high profile marriages to the late Lady Diana Spencer and subsequently to Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall.

On 29 July 1981, The Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer in St Paul's Cathedral. The marriage ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. It had produced two sons, Prince William and Prince Henry.

On 10 February 2005, it was announced by Clarence House that The Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles would marry on 8 April of that year, in a civil ceremony at Windsor Castle. On Monday 4 April, it was announced that the wedding would be delayed for one day to 9 April.

Prince William (1982- ) The Prince of Wales's eldest son, Prince William, is second in line to the throne. He was born in 1982.

Prince William attended Mrs Mynor's Nursery School in west London from 24th September, 1985, when he was three years old. Prince William was a pupil at Wetherby School, also in west London, from 15th January, 1987, until 5th July, 1990. At the age of seven, he won the Grunfield Cup awarded to the boy with the best overall swimming style. Prince William sang in the 1987, 1988 and 1989 Christmas concerts.

Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrive at the Younger Hall to attend Prince William's graduation from university. Prince William expressed his gratitude towards the people of St Andrews and Fife Police, who, he said had made it possible for him to have as 'normal' a life as possible. Prince William and his grandmother The Queen talk to University Principal Dr Brian Ing after the graduation ceremony. On June 23rd, Prince William has graduated with a 2:1 Master of Arts (Honours) in Geography after four years of study at St Andrews University in Scotland.

Prince Henry - always known as Prince Harry - is third in line of succession to the throne, behind his father, The Prince of Wales, and his elder brother, Prince William. He was born on 21 st December 1984 in London.

Harry studied at Mrs. Jane Mynors's nursery school in West London, the same as William. In June 2003, he finished Eton college with two A-levels in Geography and Art, of grades D and B respectively. At school, he developed his love of sport, particularly polo and rugby union.

Balmoral Castle in Scotland is the private residence of The Queen. Balmoral Castle has remained a favorite residence for The Queen and her family during the summer holiday period in August and September. The Castle is located on the large Balmoral Estate

Buckingham Palace is where the Queen lives.

Buckingham Palace is the Queen's official and main royal London home, although the Queen regularly spends time at Windsor Castle and Balmoral in Scotland.

It has been the official London residence of Britain's monarchy since 1837. Queen Victoria was the first monarch to live there.

Buckingham Palace was originally a grand house built by the Dukes of Buckingham for his wife. George IV began transforming it into a palace in 1826.

Foot Guards Five regiments of Foot Guards guard the Palace. They wear red jackets and tall, furry hats called bearskins. When the guards come on duty, there is a ceremony called the Changing of the Guard. Changing of the Guard A familiar sight at Buckingham Palace is the Changing of the Guard ceremony that takes place in the forecourt each morning. The monarch and the royal palaces have been guarded by the Household Troops since 1660.

Inside Buckingham Palace The Palace has around 600 rooms, including 19 State rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 78 bathrooms, 92 offices, a cinema and a swimming pool. It also has its own post office and police station. About 400 people work at the Palace, including domestic servants, chefs, footmen, cleaners, plumbers, gardeners, chauffers, electricians, and two people who look after the 300 clocks. Royal Parties Every year, more than 50,000 people come to the Palace each year as guests to banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions, and Royal Garden Parties.

When the Queen is at home, you can see her royal flag flying from the flag pole on top of Buckingham Palace. This flag is called the Royal Standard.

When Queen Elizabeth the Second was crowned on June 2nd, 1953, many of Britain's leading artists were commissioned to create the only feature-length Technicolor record of the coronation. Narrated by Sir Laurence Olivier, it conveys the sights and sounds, the pomp and pageantry, the very spirit of that unforgettable day.
