1. Use the ‘quick selection tool’ to select the area that you would like quickly, this will also select other areas that you do not need, don’t worry, this can be fixed on your next step. Quick way of selecting and changing part of a photo

2. Holding the ALT key while using the quick selection tool will remove the areas which you no longer need.

3. CTRL C (copy) the bus and paste it into a new layer CTRL V (paste)

4. Select your background layer then change it to black and white as shown above.

5. Alternatively, if you wanted to change the colour of the bus, select the new layer that you have created Use the Hue/Saturation tool to change the colour. You can find this in (image>adjustments > hue and saturation )

6. Over lapping photos When merging or overlapping photos it is important to try and keep the sizes of your photos similar. If you have taken your own on the same camera, with the same settings this should not be a problem. If you are using internet images you should check the resolution and size of the image, shown above. When choosing images from the internet, try to select images of similar size and resolution. If you need to adjust the size and resolution of the image, reduce the larger one to the same resolution and similar size ( click constrain proportions to ensure the image is reduced in the correct shape) constrain proportions

7. There are two easy effective ways of copying / merging an image. 1) Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to select the image that you would like to copy. Then copy the image (CTRL C).

8. Paste (CTRL V) it into your background image.

9. Use the rubber tool to remove the background on your new layer. You may need to change the size and shape of your rubber tool to help you. Zooming into your photo, will help you get delete areas which are difficult to get to.

10. Method 2 Use the clone tool to select areas that you wish to copy. Create a new layer on your background image.

11. Using the clone tool hold down the ALT key (you should get a symbol which looks similar to a snipers target) while holding ALT hover over an area that you would like to copy and left click. This will copy that area.

12. Return to your background image, make sure that you have your new blank layer selected and left click to paste from your image that you have just copied. (hold down the left click while moving your mouse will allow you to continue copying from your other photo.

13. Use the rubber tool again to remove the background on your new layer and tidy up your image. You may need to change the size and shape of your rubber tool to help you.
