2. COMPANY PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED -Description of the problem to approach. The problem CMf’s Ice Cream is facing is that our signature chocolate chip cookie dough flavor is selling so well that we are thinking of producing more, but what is stopping us is that the cost to produce it is high so we want to make sure it will continue selling all of it containers, because in order to produce more we need to stop producing another. Which one? In order to solve our problem we decided to first use statistical functions to see which of our prices was the most common (frequency function), we got an average of our total revenue (average function), and the standard deviation of the total in our last four months.

At our store we had a couple of issues that needed of the financial functions such as: - Calculating the depreciation of one of our fridges (SYD). -In our company we want to invest $10,000 and had to ask for a bank loan, so we need to find how much we are going to pay (FV). - As our business is becoming more and more popular we found ourselves in need of a bigger space so we decided to buy a bigger location which has caused us to make an initial investment of $15,000 and then monthly pay to reach $36,000 (PMT). We also wanted to know if our yogurt ice cream was selling in good amounts so we decided to use advanced filters in order to determine if the yogurt ice cream was selling more than 25 units per month.

We also used advanced filters to determine the lowest selling ice creams in comparison to our CMf´s Signature Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream, which is our top flavor. We gave a table the range name “Employees” in order to identify and make its use easier. Then we used conditional format to highlight the employees that had poor performance. We consolidated the total revenue of the year 2013 and 2014 and got the average of both years. For our “What if scenario” we contemplated a rise of our prices of 5% giving us a 35% profit margin rather than a 30%. With the previous steps we found that the Sorbets and yogurt ice cream were our lowest selling products, so we created a chart to compare the flavors and find the lowest selling one of them.

We used two advanced macros. One of them gives our titles format, and the second one gives conditional format to our tables. At last we created a chart to show the total revenue for the months of June-September of the year 2014 in order to show a comparison of our products. In conclusion we decided to remove Acai Yogurt from our menu because it’s the lowest selling ice cream and by eliminating that flavor from our stores we give our company more production capacity to produce our top selling flavors.

CMF's Ice Cream ”Queries"

Query 1: We need to know which clients order ice creams with a cost greater than $10 because we are issuing discounts to them. The company had no control over the issuance of these discounts so we created this query.

Query 2: This query gives us all the products that contain the word chocolate or have a selling price greater than $10. This is because we want to promote on social media these specific flavors because they are the ones that provoke a greater marginal income increase in our company.

Query 3: This query gives us the containers with a cost between $5 and $15 and it asks the user the name of the product. This is because most of our costs are between these prices and we want to know the code, selling price, and cost for each of these.
