Self-Sufficiency The aim of TAMTF is to provide a ‘roadmap’ for Ahazaza school so as to enable it to become financially self-sufficient . “Alongside traditional academic subjects, the school teaches business and practical skills through running its own profit-making businesses. These school enterprises earn the school money, which covers most of the facilities and teaching costs. More importantly these businesses act as a platform for students to develop entrepreneurial and practical skills, transforming these young people into confident individuals who are able to support themselves and their families.” Source: TAMTF Ahaza Independent School Business Plan, 2011

Entrepreneurial Opportunities
The school is using the following resources in order to enable it to become financially sustainable: Multipurpose Hall - Internet Café/Training Centre School Shop In what ways might they be making money out of these facilities?

SWOT ANALYSIS Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats

Multi Purpose Hall Principally conceived for the children’s use, the hall also provides a centre for the people of Muhanga (films and theatrical performances, weddings and other social events).

School Shop “Great steps have also been taken forward in handling the management of the school shop over completely to Agnes, the kindergarten teacher currently running the business. Through the creation of a new budget we have been able to transfer the skills necessary for Agnes to maintain the budget by inputting termly sales figures and keeping track of profits made by the school shop. This signals a fantastic step forward for our work here at Ahazaza, taking us one move closer to achieving our goal of a completely sustainable school.” Source: TAMTF Rwanda blog
