1. How does the Wing span effect the wing flight of a plane?

2. What is this project about?
The purpose of this project was to see the varying differences in airplanes and how the wingspan size will effect efficiency of the plane of the same models
We wanted to see if a plane model with different wing spans would affect its time in seconds to a certain
It can apply to real life because planes may be able to be made for efficiently based on their wings.

3. The Procedure 5 planes were made, each with different wingspans
A launching method was created
Tape was setup as a finish line at 20 ft.
Time was taken for each plane to reach the tape.

4. Procedure (part 2)
As a launching technique a chair was used along with a rubber band as a way to launch the planes
Rubber band was launched back 5.5 inches with the same force each time
Chair was placed on 2 foot 5” table to rise the height it was being thrown

6. Observations during experiment
This is the hypotenuse showing that the larger it is the longer it will take the bigger planes to reach the distance
3 cm plan curved to the right about 4 feet.
2 cm plane when launched glided and took longer
The 6 cm plane once launched went downward and hit the floor directly after it reached 20 feet.
The planes with larger wingspans did not fly as quick and glided
The planes with the smaller wingspans went well beyond the marking point
This is the hypotenuse showing that the larger the wings are the longer the plane will take to reach a point, which proved right in our experiment.

This graph shows the variations between the airplanes width and how it effects their time of flight to a certain distance
Each time the width of the plane was changed the time in seconds for it to reach the 20 feet differentiated from the other planes to reach the marking line.

9. How to improve our experiment
Create more planes for trials
Try shorter and larger distances for accurate timings.
Accurate stop watch
Sling shot with same amount of force each time
Create a plane with detachable and attachable wings

10. Fun Facts
The world record for longest distance of a paper airplane is over 500 ft
If thrown in space a paper airplane with fly straight for ever until it hits an object

11. Making our Paper Airplane
To make our paper airplane we used plane white computer paper.
The plane was fold in half from right to left (shown on the picture to the right)
The two top sides were then folded as shown in this picture.
