3 Libya Transitional Govt. Feb. 2011, eastern city of Benghazi NTC Rebels Trying to topple Muammar Gadhafi (dictator) Fought back for 6 months, and several thousand were killed. Gadhafi is dead, Libya is declared liberated, and is promised a pluralist, democratic state.

4 Muammar Gadhafi was an average citizen. He rose in rank throughout the military and in 1969 he seized control of the govt. He then ruled as an authoritarian dictator for over 40 years, before the protesting started. He was later shot by rebels when he tried to escape after he lost his capital.
