SYLLABUS COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE This course will serve as an introduction to complementary and alternative medicine. We will define what complementary and alternatives therapies are, then we will focus on one particular therapy, aromatherapy which uses essential oils. COURSE OBJECTIVES To understand the basics of CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) To understand what aromatherapy and essential oils are and why people are using them To understand the different ways that essential oils are used

COURSE OUTLINE Week 1 What is CAM? Explain the difference between complementary and alternative medicines. Introduce Essential Oils Have a Q & A session discussing personal experiences that anyone has had – both good and bad.

ESSENTIAL OIL Week 2 Why essential oils are used and why they have become so popular. The many different options that essential oils are used for. Who can use essential oils safely. Q & A session along with an opportunity to smell a few different essential oils and what those oils can be used for.

ESSENTIAL OILS CONTINUED Week 3 How essential oils can replace toxic chemical cleansers Essential oils can be used for illnesses and anxiety. Make one essential oil mix for a cleanser and one for anxiety. Give out information about essential oils (different reputable companies that sell them), social media groups that can answer questions and/or give ideas. Last chance for Questions!
