North Star Also known as the Polestar or Polaris Finding the North Star – First find the Big Dipper and the little dipper, both group of stars are easily to find – Second, when you find the little dipper, the point of its handle is known as the Northstar When you find the Northstar, it can point you to where ever you want to go because you found the North – The northern axis of the Earth points directly toward the North star

Constellations Constellations aren’t real, they are only used to help us identify the stars Farmers are those who made the constellations – It helped them realize which stars appear in a certain month and season – Helping them which season it is when the stars appear For example: Scorpius only appears during the summer in the northern hemisphere By finding one constellation, a person can identify its stars and their neighboring stars – For example: Orion constellation has the stars of Betelgeuse and Rigel. Betelgeuse is the shoulder Rigel is the foot

Rigel Known as the blue white giant star, Algebar, Elgebar or Beta Orionis – In Arabic, it means “the left leg of the central one” – Rex called it the blue star, brighter than Betelgeuse – Located in the foot of Orion Jeanette said it was perfect for Brian because he was great runner Drawing a line upward will reach Betelgeuse Comparing to the other stars, Rigel is 40,000 times brighter – It is the 7 th brightest star – 60 times the diameter of the sun – Has the same amount of mass as Betelgeuse comparing to the sun: 20 times the mass of the sun

9. Venus Rex told Jeannette that Venus didn’t have any moons, magnetic field or satellites and that it was super hot. It is known for goddess of love and beauty Venus is the brightest of all the plants – It has volcanoes and full heat that it could even melt lead – That is why Jeanette Walls chose Venus because it was the brightest of all the stars It has the same size and shape of the Earth
