Fox’s Physical Activity Promotion and the Active School promote students actively getting to school, via walking or cycling. To do this, students must understand how to do this safely Similarly, Pill’s Promoting Physical Activity and Health in Schools also emphasises students being active in their transportation to school, so once again safety is important, so that students ‘arrive alive’ Water based physical activity is also promoted, which students also need to be educated so that they can do water based activities safely

You are here The Hairdressers Your mum is waiting for you at the hairdressers across the road. You’re already running late and know your mum won’t be happy. You choose to walk straight across the road, after all, there is a red light holding all the traffic and you’re in a hurry… Safe or unsafe?

You and your family are on a holiday near the beach and you’ve made friends with some of the locals your age. One of their favourite things to do is to jump off the jetty into the sea. You’re not really sure how deep the water is, but your new friends say that they’ve been doing it for years. They’ve just done it and told you how awesome it is. You want to impress your new friends and stand on the edge of the jetty, ready to jump… Safe or unsafe?

You’re riding your bike with your two friends Kayla and Jim. Jim’s dad and his friend John are riding their bikes too, right in front of you. Kayla and Jim are ahead of Jim’s dad and you want to catch up to them, but Jim’s dad and John are blocking your way. You decide to ride up onto the footpath to overtake Jim’s dad and John… Safe or unsafe?

You are looking after your two year old brother while your parents have gone to the shops. Its been raining a lot lately and the roof has been leaking. To catch the rain, buckets have been placed under the leaks. You’re in your room and your brother is in the kitchen, where there are two buckets catching water. You think your brother will be fine and you decide to only check on him every now and then, because last time you looked he was quite happy playing with his toy… Safe or unsafe?

You are waiting at the train station for your train to arrive. There is a large crowd of people and you can’t really see what is happening. You stand behind the line waiting for your train. Your train begins to pull into the station and the people around you begin to move towards it. You decide to stay behind the line until the train has stopped and wait for the people to get off the train before you board… Safe or unsafe?

Your dad picks you and your two friends up in his car after school. As you are driving home, you and your friends are talking and laughing about the day, with one of your friends starting to get so excited that they start yelling. Your dad turns around from the driver’s seat and asks you all to not be so loud while he is driving. You listen and quieten down but your friends didn’t seem to hear. Your dad doesn’t turn around again so you decide to re-join your friends and talk and laugh loudly… Safe or unsafe?

Thank You!
