2. Coming to a workplace near you!!!! Food safety is a priority for healthcare workers at home and on the job.

4.  1) How old is this food? What is the expiration date?  2) Has it been at room temperature for more than 2 hours? If so throw it away.  3) Was the produce stored with raw meat?  4) Has this cooked food been stored in the refrigerator for more than 4 days? If so throw it away.

5.  1) Ask the patient how long has that food been sitting on your table? ( Some juices require refrigeration)  2) Would you like to wash your hands?  3) Is this patient neutropenic? If so, make sure the food is safe and clean. No fresh produce allowed due to risk of dirt contamination.  4) Are my hands clean?

6.  1) Foods reach room temperature in about two hours. This includes hot or cold foods.  2) At room temperature, bacteria can double every twenty minutes!!!! Once food reaches room temperature the multiplying BEGINS!  3) Follow the guidelines for cleaning, cooking, separating, and chilling.
