DISCUSSION OF RESULTS

QUESTION TO BE ANSWERED  What is the knowledge base of responsible sexual behavior among Rowan Students?

THE ANSWER  After analyzing the data it appears that Rowan Students have had prior education about responsible sexual behavior and are knowledgeable about it  Even though Rowan students are educated, they do not use what they know

INTERPRETATION  We feel that our results mean that the students of Rowan tend to shy away from their knowledge of responsible sexual behavior and don’t make the best decisions

SURPRISING STATISTICS!  About 50% of the students surveyed were only confronted by their parents!  Around 33% of participants were aware of their partners sexual history!  77% of males don’t use a condom every time and 58% of females don’t make their partner wear a condom  Both females and males are 86% sexually active

OTHER STUDIES  We were unable to find other studies specifically related to our research question  Most articles on sexual behavior were on how it is taught or how to prevent risky sexual behavior

WHAT CAN ROWAN DO?  It is difficult to directly affect the actions of college students  Offer classes that refresh student’s memories on certain information

WOULD IT MATTER?  Going by the tendencies of students now, if Rowan offered classes it most likely would have little impact

WHAT CAN WE DO?  Start using what we know and stop ignoring it!

FUTURE RESEARCH  Broaden the population that is surveyed by selecting more schools in more areas  Ask more questions about a person’s knowledge and how they behave
