2 What Are They? Two glands that are suspended within a sac that hang outside of the body called the scrotum. The are responsible for secreting testosterone and sperm

4 Homeostasis The testis remain outside the body to retain the perfect temperature for sperm production, which is slightly lower than the body temperature. Raise and Lower Reflex Reaction

5 Hormones FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone)
The development, growth, pubertal maturation, and reproductive processes of the body LH (luteinizing hormone) Stimulates Leydig cell production of testosterone

6 Sperm Production FSH acts directly on the Seminiferous tubule to produce sperm Immature sperm travels from the seminiferous tubules to the epididymis where is stays until sexual arousal.

7 Ailments Cryptorchidism (or undescended testes) Testicular cancer
Testicular torsion Orchitis Hypogonadism (low testosterone) Epididymitis Testicular trauma

8 Testicular Cancer The cancer is divided into two types: seminoma (30%) and nonseminoma (70%). Testicular cancer is almost always treatable if detected in the early stages, even if it has already started to spread.

9 Symptoms of Cancer The symptoms of testicular cancer include:
a painless lump in the testicle dull ache or pain in the groin or abdomen enlargement of a testicle pain, discomfort, or a feeling of "heaviness" in the scrotum pain or discomfort in the testicle
