CIVIL WAR SONG Lincoln and Liberty President Abraham Lincoln

Hurrah for the choice of the nation, Our chieftain so brave and so true, We'll go for the great reformation, For Lincoln and Liberty, too! We'll go for the son of Kentucky The hero of Hoosierdom through, The pride of the "Suckers" so lucky, For Lincoln and Liberty, too! Then up with the banner so glorious, The star- spangled red, white, and blue, We'll fight till our banner's victorious, For Lincoln and Liberty, too.

Reflection on Song I think this song is about how everybody is so happy and thankful for Lincoln helping them win the war. The first paragraph is saying how the chief is so brave for leading them through the war, in the second paragraph they are saying the confederate side lost and how they went for Kentucky. The last paragraph is how they put up the American flag stating that they won the civil war.

CIVIL WAR POEM #1 Confederate Poem About a Battle in the War

SHILOH, A REQUIEM by Herman MelvilleHerman Melville (1819-1891)

April, 1862 Skimming lightly, wheeling still, The swallows fly low Over the fields in cloudy days, The forest-field of Shiloh-- Over the field where April rain Solaced the parched one stretched in pain Through the pause of night. The church, so lone, the log-built one, That echoed to many a parting groan And natural prayer Of dying foeman mingled there-- Foeman at morn, but friends at eve-- Fame or country least their care: (What like a bullet can undeceive!) But now they lie low, While over them the swallows skim, And all is hushed at Shiloh That followed the Sunday fight Around the church of Shiloh--

Reflection on Poem #1 I think this poem is about when the civil war was over and how the are clouds and air are very dusty. Also how the fields look Dry and boring, and how you can imagine what the civil war looked like. For example, it explains how there are dead body’s and ashes on the ground.

CIVIL WAR POEM #2 Union Poem About a Battles in the War

BALL'S BLUFF A REVERIE by Herman MelvilleHerman Melville (1819-1891)

One noonday, at my window in the town, I saw a sight -- saddest that eyes can see -- Young soldiers marching lustily Unto the wars, With fifes, and flags in mottoed pageantry; While all the porches, walks, and doors Were rich with ladies cheering royally. They moved like Juny morning on the wave, Their hearts were fresh as clover in its prime (It was the breezy summer time), Life throbbed so strong, How should they dream that Death in rosy clime Would come to thin their shining throng? Youth feels immortal, like the gods sublime. Weeks passed; and at my window, leaving bed, By nights I mused, of easeful sleep bereft, On those brave boys (Ah War! thy theft); Some marching feet Found pause at last by cliffs Potomac cleft; Wakeful I mused, while in the street Far footfalls died away till none were left.

It Is talking about how one day this boy saw men walking to war and women clapping and praising them.the boy was devastated, Reflection on Poem #2 I think this poem is about how a community watched a pack of soldier go off to war bravely and without fear. The people cheered them on knowing the soldiers had no fear and were brave. At the end of the poem, weeks had passed and only SOME of the soldiers came home.
