P ROJECT D ESCRIPTION Robust prototype to allow 2 patients to have a week’s worth of 6 different pills automatically dispense on a time-basis with the scan of a fingerprint Customer: Anyone who takes medication on a time-basis and desires to keep their location in a safe and secure environment Key Customer needs/Engineering Specs: 360° Security™ & SmartCartridges™ Laptop Interface & GUI Properly and reliably dispense medication Biometric Access

D ESIGN C ONCEPT Cylinder Holders Dispense Ramp Empty Return Area Collapsible Legs USB/Power Input

User Approaches the dispenser User places finger on finger print reader Correct nitinol latch is actuated and medicine falls with the use of gravity Medicine cylinder rolls down the dispensing ramp User takes medicine Deposit empty medicine cylinder into return slot at the rear of the dispenser S YSTEM A RCHITECTURE

T ECHNICAL R ISK A SSESSMENT Risk: Incorrect or no medication reaching user Dispense from incorrect location Failure to dispense Incorrect medication fill False positive/negative from biometric scanner Reviewed results with project team and customer Mitigations: Double check programming/circuitry Person refilling held accountable: datalogging, pick list Research and purchase best scanner within budget.

C URRENT S TATE OF D ESIGN Design meets all customer needs except: Interfacing with a network Design meets all engineering specs Schedule: A week or two behind so we can research a few new dispense detection methods Confident with design going onto the next steps Mitigations: Not enough time for network, propose for next iteration Catch up with research over spring break

M ILESTONES March 20 th : Remaining parts and components ordered March 27 th : Housing complete April 3 rd : PCB Board completed April 24 th : GUI and programming complete May 1 st : Finish system integration May 15 th : Documentation finished, final project reviews
