3 We are learning how knowing the diameter can help us find other measurements of a circle.

5 Using other cubes, try to create a circle around that 4 unit diameter. Be creative. Consider how the length of the diameter relates to the “Perimeter” of the circle.

6 Some groups recognized that not attaching the cubes for the perimeter allowed them to get closer to an accurate perimeter. Here is one example:

7 The circular shape is close to a circle but not exact, as shown here by putting the edges together. They found that when using a diameter of 4 units, you could create a circle using about 12 other units.

13 Students will then work in pairs to solve some practice questions, to show they can transfer understanding from investigative equation development into simple application questions. Please solve the question given to your table with a partner.
