8.  In FY 2009, initial teacher certifications from all sources dropped for the first time since FY 2000.  Certification of new math and science teachers dropped 5% THECB 6/2010

9.  Hispanics had the largest increases, but still lag with only 4.4% participation rate  African American Females have the highest participation rate (7.8%) of any group  Overall Female participation rate outpaces males 6.5% to 5.0%  STEM degrees had largest increase yet, but still need to double to reach target  Certifications of new math and science teachers dropped 5% THECB 6/2010
