Short Description of the Proposed Network The Upper layer of the network includes internet router and firewall which provides an optimized and reliable transport structure by forwarding secured traffic at very high speeds This network has designed as fast, secured and reliable which is divided into two switching layers. Distribution Layer Access Layer The distribution layer of the network separates the access layer from the rest of the network. Departmental or workgroup access Broadcast/multicast domain definition VLAN routing Security, in the form of Access Lists and filtering The access layer is the point at which local end users are allowed into the network. Supplies traffic to the network Performs network entry control End users access network resources by way of the access layer.

Short Description of the Proposed Network To manage all the wireless access point under the entire network infrastructure a Wireless LAN Controller has used which is not only for central management but also have some additional features. Interference detection and avoidance Load balancing Coverage hole detection and correction QoS Management Roaming Capabilities

Secured Server Network (DMZ) Web servers, Mail, DNS Server are placed under the Firewall’s DMZ zone. Only the specific ports of the services were partially opened for the external network by the Firewall for securing the servers and applications and also protects from any external attacks.

Distribution Layer Fiber Layout In this network the connectivity between the distribution and access switches will be fiber optic connection as this not only enable data traffic over longer distances, but are also more resilient to outdoor weather conditions and electromagnetic interference (EMI) Distribution Switch Access Switch Optical Fiber Link

Why we use Fiber Optic Cables between buildings? Greater bandwidth Fiber provides far greater bandwidth than copper and has standardized performance up to 10 Gbps Low attenuation and greater distance Because the fiber optic signal is made of light, very little signal loss occurs during transmission, and data can move at higher speeds and greater distances. Fiber does not have the distance limitation of unshielded twisted pair copper Fiber distances can range from 300 m to 40 km. Security Data is safe with fiber cable. It doesn’t radiate signals and is extremely difficult to tap. Immunity and reliability Fiber provides extremely reliable data transmission. It’s completely immune to many environmental factors that affect copper cable.
