Street Fairs We participated in four street fairs in 2008 Green Day at FDU April Ag Day at Cook College April Fishawack Chatham in June Summit in October This is the best possible publicity because the public gets to see chemists in a relaxed manner. Over 1,000 people per fair see our booth. We also promote our activities such as NCW and Earth Day etc.

3. Street Fairs 2009 We will participate in four or more street fairs in 2009 –Green Day at FDU April 20 –Rutgers Day and Ag Day (two booths) April 23 –Others to be selected as soon as the list is published Professionals are needed to volunteer for these street fairs.

Street Fairs 2009 Volunteer opportunities for working chemists –We are listed in www.volunteermatch.org and www.jerseycares.org.www.volunteermatch.org www.jerseycares.org –You can also sign up on our website www.njacs.orgwww.njacs.org Bring your children and be at the booth for one or two hours. Set up and take down the booth –This is for early risers who will set up booth time needed one hour –Later in afternoon someone to take down and pack up time needed one hour

5. Street Fair 2009 Duties of Street Fair organizers 1.Identify the fair and pay for the space 2.Order the materials from National both free and paid 3.Determine where the banner, table and table covers and canopy are located 4.Sign up volunteers 5.Supervise the set up and take down of booth. 6. Newspapers Meeting Notices –Meeting notices must be done three to four weeks in advance –Each newspaper has their own format for meeting notices –Can be placed in the business section or the entertainment section depending on the activity.

7. Newspapers Press releases –E-mailed to editorial board of the newspaper –Sample press releases available on website –Should do a phone call follow up several times –Can also e-mail directly to a reporter also with a phone call follow up –Plan to send press release at least two weeks before the event and send it again and again

8. Newspapers Weekly newspapers –Will publish photos and notices of events –Should write the story and submit the photos –Always ask the paper for the format for photo submission –Will cover local events in schools
