2 Geography  The absolute location is 31”30’ N, 34”45’ E. It is east of the Mediterranean Sea and northeast of  It is hot and dry in the east and south, it’s a desert in the south, and low costal plains and mountainous everywhere else.  People mostly get around by their cars or local buses. 3 History  On May 14, 1948 Israel became its own country by declaring independence.  From 1939-1945 the Jews were afflicted, and killed by Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust.  June 5 th,1967-June 10 th,1967 the “Six Day War” occurred. “The Six Day War”;Israel tanks, and other forces fought against Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq and won.

4 Economy: Developed  98% of people can read that are the age of 14 or above.  4.28 babies out of 1,000 babies die at birth.  The average person should live to 80.61 years of age.  92% of all of their land is urban.  2% of people have an agricultural job, and 98% of people have a industrial or commercial job.

5 Economy: Developed  The average person makes $ 28,000 a year.  263% of people possess cars. Boy children are reading on their house’s door steps.

6 Politics  Israel is a democratic republic type of government, which means that the people have power to the government.  Ehud Olmert is the prime minister of Israel. Ehud Olmert laughing.

7 Culture  The main religion is Judaism.  Hebrew is the main spoken language.  Hanukah, Passover, and Ramadan are celebrated holidays.  Israel’s clothing style is a western style, except less formal because of the heat. A girl lights the Menorah during the holiday of Hanukah.

8 Facts and Figures  The population is currently 7,112,359 people, at a growth rate of a 1.713% increase.  The life expectancy for males is 78.54 years of age, and 82.79 years of age for females.  The literacy rate for males is 98.5%, and 95.9% for females. 9 Interesting Information  The blue star on the flag is called The Star of David.  The Jew’s Sabbath Day is from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. Israel’s national flag and coat of arms.

10 Interesting Information  Jerusalem is the capital, largest city, and holy/sacred city of Israel, Jews, and Christians.  The most common thing eaten in Israel are: chopped liver, chicken noodle soup, and gefilte fish.  Israel is constantly being in wars/battles and under different controls.
