2 Republic Act 8981  “PRC Modernization Act of 2000” recognizes the important role of professionals in nation-building and promotes the sustained development of a reservoir of professionals whose competence has been determined by honest and credible licensure examinations and whose standards of professional service and practice are internationally recognized and considered world-class.

6 Objectives for the initiative  Ensure that the incoming professionals are equipped with the appropriate competencies to discharge their functions based on present and other evolving requirements of the industry, specially in the hospital-based tertiary laboratory  Foundational competencies needed to be globally competitive (in preparation for liberalization in trade and services)  Ensure there is a harmonization between the curriculum and the requirements of the industry, specially in the hospital-based tertiary laboratory  Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for Medical Technology Education (recently revised for implementation for SY 2006 – 2007, effective March 15, 2006 / CHED Memorandum Order No.14, Series of 2006)

9 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE Short-term  Review of previous extracted questions  Item analysis / Discrimination index  More in depth assessment of the Item Analysis  Is the question good? Is it clear?  Is there consistency in making good questions?  How good are the options? Are there lazy options? Long-term  Review of the outcomes  Have the objectives been met?
