Far More than Anyone Can Imagine!! If God is your partner, make your plans BIG! D.L. Moody

Far More than Anyone Can Imagine!! Fill each of us with His Spirit Give us all a love for His Word Use each of us for His glory Experience His love so intensely that we can’t help but love one another Help us keep the sense of excitement and energy that we have now See scores of people come to Christ

Ephesians 4: 1-6 Unity of the Spirit

The truth of who God is and what He has done should always result in a life that conforms to His will.

Unity of the Spirit As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Unity of the Spirit 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4: 1-6 (NIV)

Unity of the Spirit “Satan always hates Christian fellowship; it is his policy to keep Christians apart. Anything which can divide saints from one another he delights.” Charles Spurgeon

Unity of the Spirit “Being a Christian means caring about the life and health of the body of Christ, the church. It means caring about what the church is and what the church should be because you belong to the church, Christian.” Mark Dever

Acheiving Unity

 Live a life worthy of the calling you have received

Acheiving Unity  Live a life worthy of the calling you have received  Have the right attitude Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Acheiving Unity Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like- minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Acheiving Unity 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2: 1-4

Acheiving Unity  Live a life worthy of the calling you have received  Have the right attitude Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Acheiving Unity  Live a life worthy of the calling you have received  Have the right attitude  Bear with one another in love

Acheiving Unity  Live a life worthy of the calling you have received  Have the right attitude  Bear with one another in love  Know that we are unified by a common truth

Unity of the Spirit I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

Unity of the Spirit He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Unity of the Spirit I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. AMEN.

What unity is not

Not necessarily uniformity

What unity is not Not necessarily uniformity Not necessarily total agreement – We need not all agree, but if we disagree, let us not be disagreeable in our disagreements. M R DeHaan

What unity is not Not necessarily uniformity Not necessarily total agreement Not something we can create (comes from the Holy Spirit)

What unity is not Not necessarily uniformity Not necessarily total agreement Not something we can create (comes from the Holy Spirit) Not something to achieve at any cost – not at the expense of the truth

Unity of the Spirit

You are committed to one another You have a common goal You have compassion for each other

What a “unified” Church looks like: Focused on the truth Focused on reliance on the Spirit Focused on Jesus

Unity of the Spirit

One hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become "unity" conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. A.W. Tozer
