What do we mean by the word “BE”? In English grammar, each sentence must have a verb. Some sentences may have one or more than one verb. In sentences that have two verbs, the first one is helping verb and the second is the main verb…. Example ( he is writing a story) The first is helping verb(is) and the second is the main verb (writing) A grammar rule { sentences that have two verbs, the first is helping verb and the second is the main verb}

Amused with the pronoun “ I “ Isused with (he, she, or it) or a singular name like Ahmad, Khalid, radio, Salma etc… Are used with (you, we, they, plural names, etc… The past of { am } is { was } The past of { is } is { was } The past of { are } is { were} There is a difference between (were and where)

What is the simple present? When do we use it? The simple present is one of the English tenses which is used to express a fact or a habit happens with a single person and that’s why we call it third person singular (a person or a thing like the radio)

How to form a short answer: 1- yes/no questions: Are you a student? Yes I am. (or) No, I am not. (notice how) Are you students? Yes, we are. (or) No, we are not. (plural) Is he a teacher? Is she a student? Is it new? Yes, he is. (or) No, he is not (isn’t) Yes, she is.(or) No, she isn’t. Yes, it is. (or) No, it isn’t. ( any question so far)
