Increased competition with developed economies in Europe and North America. Intense technological investments in Communication, Computer Science, Engineering and Software.

High profile security industry. High scale governmental R&D investments, especially in the security sector. High scale governmental investment in Education, from primary education to higher education.

14 The first University in Israel was founded in 1918, 30 years before the Israeli independence. Today: 8 Universities & 27 Colleges. 5 of the Israeli Universities were ranked between the best 100 in the world in computer science. Two Israeli HE institutions ranked “best academic research institutions” outside the USA (2008): The Hebrew University, Jerusalem. The Wiezmann Institute of Science. The Hebrew University earns over a billion USD from intellectual property, royalties and University-Based Companies. “Yissum” registered over 5500 patents and 1600 inventions worldwide. 16 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI GENERAL INFORMATION GIMI was established in 1987 Since, it has developed management training and capacity building, short and long term seminars, workshops and courses to all levels of personnel and decision makers, from around the globe.

17 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI GENERAL INFORMATION Over 14,000 professionals, from over 170 transitional and developing countries have received various training at the institute. GIMI provides courses in a multiplicity of languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Russian.

18 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI GENERAL INFORMATION GIMI works with several agencies, such as: USAID, Austrian Development Agency, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, FAO, UNDP. Participants are often sponsored by The World Bank, UNDP, FAO and UNESCO to name a few.

19 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI LOCATION Study facilities and accommodations are provided by the Galilee International Management Institute Study Centre at Kibbutz Mizra, located seven kilometres outside the city of Nazareth in pastoral northern Israel.

20 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI ACCOMMODATIONS The accommodations in a rustic style make the experience at Kibbutz Mizra unique.

21 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI STUDY FACILITIES The study centre includes modern classrooms equipped with the latest audio- visual aids and a computer laboratory with free Internet and e-mail access.

22 The standard courses consist of eight academic hours per day, six days per week. Participants benefit from academic lectures, case-study analyses, group discussions, workshops, simulation games, and interactions with colleagues and faculty-facilitators. On study tours, participants visit sites relevant to their professional interests and meet with senior personnel. INTRODUCTION TO GIMI TRAINING PROGRAMMES

23 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI SPECIAL EVENTS GIMI arranges an opening and closing ceremony and a farewell dinner for each group of participants. In addition, staff members join participants for an International Evening in which individuals and groups share their national folklore through song, dance and display of cultural artifacts. During this particular evening, participants are encouraged to dress up in national attire.

25 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI CUSTOMISED PROGRAMMES &PROJECTS GIMI also has the experience of conducting training programmes, workshops and courses “In-Country Training” throughout the world according to the customers’ needs, constraints and convenience. Once the programme is finalized, a Phase II can be held in Israel to complement and enhance the knowledge providing the practical part of study tours to sites relevant to programme area In addition to the standard courses offered, Galilee Institute designs and implements specialised training projects, tailor-made for the requirements of sponsoring governments and international agencies. These tailor made programmes are also developed upon request for groups and organisations in the public and private sectors.

26 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES DBA: Joint International Executive Doctorate of Business Administration between GIMI and Paris School of Business. The Programme is designed to enable working professionals to remain in their managerial positions while undertaking periods of study. The programme is suitable for senior managers, executives, consultants and advanced students.

27 INTRODUCTION TO GIMI ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES MQE: Joint Masters of Management and Quality in Education (MQE) programme between GIMI and International School for Social and Business Studies – ISSBS, Slovenia. The one year European degree programme, aims to train experts who work closely with the education sector in all levels of schooling, public and private organizations and ministries of education. The programme gives exposure to European and Israeli education management systems and a varied learning experience.

28 All programmes include the opportunity to experience Israeli culture. Participants are given a tour of Kibbutz Mizra upon arrival and an explanation of the kibbutz’s communal way of life.
