2 Students Requiring Special Arrangements Refer to “ Guidelines on Selection of Special Arrangements ” For both Oral and Written Assessments Timeline: 27 Nov – 13 Dec 08Select special arrangements online 25 Feb – 6 Mar 09Amend special arrangements online By 30 Apr 09Submit any amendments in writing to HKEAA

3 Students Requiring Special Arrangements Selection Principles Approval of the School Head; WS0, WS3 to WS7 are not for Academically Low Achievers (ALAs) and Tier-1 Support SENs; Schools are required to keep supporting documents issued by relevant professionals; Schools may be asked to submit such documents in one week to the HKEAA;

4 Students Requiring Special Arrangements Selection Principles Schools should take note the following when selecting any special arrangements for students: 1.get the consent of parents in advance; 2.make reference to the advice of professionals, teachers, parents and recent special arrangements in internal exams; 3.extent assessment time no more than 25% of total time; 4.do not need to inform HKEAA any special seating arrangements in the same classroom

5 Students Requiring Special Arrangements Selection Guidelines May select more than one special arrangement for each student All WS0, WS3 to WS7 students will not be included in the ‘Student Sample List’ of Oral Assessments Schools may request in writing to enable any WS4 to WS7 students to be selected at random for Oral Assessments. If selected, no special arrangements will be provided and results will be included in the School Report for Oral Assessments

6 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS0 Exempt from the Oral Assessments All WS0 students will not be included in the ‘ Student Sample List ’ For students with Speech & Language Impairment

7 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS1 Non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students All WS1 students should take part in the whole assessment English Mathematics paper will also be provided, schools may opt using paper in either language Assessment materials will be bundled with those of other students requiring special arrangements

8 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS2 Newly-arrived children Arrival in Hong Kong less than one year OR schooling in Hong Kong for less than one year All WS2 students should take part in the whole assessment

9 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS3 Fully exempt from the whole assessment For students with Severe Visual Impairment

10 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS4 Exempt from Chinese & English Listening and Chinese Audio-visual assessments For students with Moderately-severe, Severe and Profound Hearing Impairment

11 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS5 Intellectual Disability School may select other special arrangements simultaneously for WS5 students

12 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS6 Using A3 QA booklets and/or auxiliary equipment Assessment materials will be bundled with those of other students requiring special arrangements WS6 students may not use the same sub-paper as their respective classes in the Listening assessments For students with Visual Impairment, Dyslexia, Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability, etc.

13 Students Requiring Special Arrangements WS7 Requiring separate assessments and/or time extension Assessment materials will be bundled with those of other students requiring special arrangements For Dyslexia, Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit /Hyperactivity Disorder, Physical Disability, Language Difficulty, Hearing Impairment, etc.
