9 Hallmarks of Educational Programs
Competency Based with well defined Milestone Teaching & Learning Methods linked with Competencies Quality Assessments linked to Competencies and Milestones The Curriculum Design Team efforts were guided by the Core Educational Objectives and the Education Mission Strategic Plan. Students will demonstrate achievement of the core educational objectives of the medical curriculum; Students will be expected to achieve additional advanced competencies in one or more areas; Clinical immersions across diverse clinical settings will allow students to apply knowledge, practice patient evaluation and management skills, and develop personally and professionally.

10 The six major competency domains mirror the ACGME competencies, and are explicitly tailored to the MD curriculum as detailed in our Core Educational Objectives document. The domains of Patient Care, Medical Knowledge and skills, Practice Based Learning, Interpersonal Communications, Systems-Based Practice and Professionalism and integrated within all Parts, and within curriculum units. Students will receive performance feedback not only by unit, but by competencies that are cumulative across time. The first step in designing our curriculum was to commit to assuring that every graduate would master every domain of the competencies. When then went about defining how these would best be taught and assessed. Once we had a good understanding of where our graduates needed to be by the end, we then defined the milestones for the end of Part 2, the end of Part 1, and for incoming students. This way we have a clear path toward success.
