Content Area - Science Grade Level - 2 Summary – The purpose of this activity is to give students the opportunity to learn about the changes of the moon interactively. Objective - Given a question based on the moon’s appearance, the learner will be able to identify the phases of the moon with 100% accuracy. Standard - GLE 0207.6.2 Make observations of changes in the moon’s appearance over time.

The Moon is constantly changing in appearance. The Moon is constantly changing in appearance. There are four main phases of the Moon. There are four main phases of the Moon. The specific phase that it is in is based off of the change in the amount of sunlight that is being reflected off of the moon. The specific phase that it is in is based off of the change in the amount of sunlight that is being reflected off of the moon.

New Moon - The lighted side of the Moon faces away from the Earth. This means that the Sun, Earth, and Moon are almost in a straight line, with the Moon in between the Sun and the Earth. The Moon that we see looks very dark. First Quarter - The right half of the Moon appears lighted and the left side of the Moon appears dark. During the time between the New Moon and the First Quarter Moon, the part of the Moon that appears lighted gets larger and larger every day, and will continue to grow until the Full Moon. Full Moon - The lighted side of the Moon faces the Earth. This means that the Earth, Sun, and Moon are nearly in a straight line, with the Earth in the middle. The Moon that we see is very bright from the sunlight reflecting off it. Last Quarter - The left half of the Moon appears lighted, and the right side of the Moon appears dark. During the time between the Full Moon and the Last Quarter Moon, the part of the Moon that appears lighted gets smaller and smaller every day. It will continue to shrink until the New Moon, when the cycle starts all over again.

In the images below, which moon is in the full moon phase?

The answer you have chose is correct. This image is in its Full Moon phase because the lighted side of the Moon faces the Earth. This means that the Earth, Sun, and Moon are nearly in a straight line, with the Earth in the middle. The Moon that we see is very bright from the sunlight reflecting off it.

What phase is the image of the moon in?

The answer you have chosen is correct. The image of this moon is in its New Moon phase. This is because the lighted side of the Moon faces away from the Earth. This means that the Sun, Earth, and Moon are almost in a straight line, with the Moon in between the Sun and the Earth. The Moon that we see looks very dark.

What phase is the image of the Moon below in?

You have chosen the correct answer. The Moon is in its Last Quarter phase because the left half of the Moon appears lighted, and the right side of the Moon appears dark. During the time between the Full Moon and the Last Quarter Moon, the part of the Moon that appears lighted gets smaller and smaller every day. It will continue to shrink until the New Moon, when the cycle starts all over again.

Which image below represents the First Quarter phase?

The answer you have chosen is correct! The right half of the Moon appears lighted and the left side of the Moon appears dark. During the time between the New Moon and the First Quarter Moon, the part of the Moon that appears lighted gets larger and larger every day, and will continue to grow until the Full Moon.

In this lesson you will have learned about the changes in appearance of the Moon over time. By the end of the lesson you should be able to identify the four main phases that the Moon goes through and to be able to know why they are different from one another..

Incorrect Sorry! This is not the correct answer. Please try again!
