3 Introduction to Satellite Technology The objective of this lesson is to gain a better understanding of what a satellite is and how it works.

6 Section 1: Define Satellite and Orbits  A satellite is an object in orbit around a celestial body.  Orbit – the path of a satellite around a body (e.g. the earth) which is stable under the influence of gravity.  Satellite is falling towards earth. It never crashes – it orbits
