3 W HAT I S R ELAY ? Friday, April 23 rd – Saturday, April 24 th 7 pm – 7 am U of I Outdoor Track and Field

4 Superheroes!!! Incorporate this into your team shirts, campsite, team fundraisers, etc We will be giving out “Best Decorated Campsite” and “Best Dressed Team” awards We will also be having Theme Laps every hour RELAY THEME

5 Nominate one of your male team members to dress up and attempt to win the title of Miss Relay! Male team members will have a mini “pageant” and then run around the track for about 10 minutes trying to get donations MISS RELAY PAGEANT The contestant who returns with the most donations will be crowned Miss Relay 2010!

6 R ELAY A CTIVITIES Box Car Race Each team will be invited to decorate a box and have one team member race Make sure to bring pictures, decorations for your box Team Banners Handing out at the front tonight Decorate with your team name Incorporate Superhero theme Remember – “Best Decorated Campsite” awards Also used at the first lap

7 R ELAY A CTIVITIES Raffle 1. The general raffle drawing will take place at 12:00 am. 2. All tickets must include your name, phone number, and team name. 3. You must have your ticket and BE PRESENT at Relay to claim your prize! 4. Raffle Ticket Prices: $2 for 1 ticket, $5 for 4 tickets, $10 for 10 tickets, $1 for each additional ticket after $10. 5. The drawing for the GPS will take place at 3:30am. 6. The drawing for the TV will take place at 6am. Beads Will be selling necklaces for $5 and then you can pick up a bead each time you do a lap to keep track

8 Every year at Relay, we line the track with paper bags with candles and displaying the name of someone who has battled cancer You can also send an image of your loved one and we will display it during our luminaria powerpoint If you’d like to purchase a bag or email a picture, please contact Amy Levine at alevine3@illinois.edu or order it online at www.relayforlifeuofi.comalevine3@illinois.edu LUMINARIA Purchase a luminaria bag for $5 to honor a loved one affected by cancer

9 Every year we honor one family, one caregiver, and one survivor with the Eternal Flame Award The award recipients will receive an engraved award and they will be able to speak at Relay For Life If you would like to nominate someone or receive a nomination form, please email cacuofi@gmail.com – Forms due Friday, April 16th cacuofi@gmail.com ETERNAL FLAME AWARD

10 N IGHT -O F L OGISTICS Parking The grass field to the NE of the track (by the baseball field) will be available if it is not wet Encourage your team members to car pool or walk Drop-Off You can pull up on St. Mary’s Road or by the Ubben Center parking lot to drop off tents, etc Check-In At the Registration booth when you walk in the NW side of the track – receive program, etc Opens at 5:30 pm, closes at 7 pm

11 N IGHT -O F L OGISTICS Accounting Can turn in donations until 12 pm in the baseball ticket booth Any donations procured after 12 pm will need to be mailed to ACS Please take your change to a bank and have it changed into cash prior to bank night and Relay Campsite Make sure to bring tents! You can get these at Campus Rec if you need to on a first-come, first-serve basis Designated grilling area- fill out a form if you want one Will have at least 10’x10’

12 Rules Do not go on the grass in the center of the track! Only grill in designated grilling area Keep campsites clean — pick up trash! No rollerblading or bicycle riding NO SMOKING! NO ALCOHOL! NO PETS! Emergency Plan Will be in the Armory if the weather is bad Will call, email you the night before Make sure to check your email before leaving to go to Relay in case we move the event N IGHT -O F L OGISTICS

13 Remember to BRING CASH to Relay to support the on-site fundraisers Tent Grills, platters if grilling Blankets, decorations, and stuff for your campsite Cards, games, snacks, etc On-site fundraiser supplies if needed Your team banner Be prepared for wet, cold weather and for walking a lot $20 for Early Bird Registration for next year Team Registration Fee if have not turned it in yet THINGS TO BRING

14 S CHEDULE 5:30 pm – Team Captains start checking in 7 pm – Opening Ceremonies and Eternal Flame Awards 9:30 pm – Luminaria and Fight Back Ceremonies 10:30 pm – Team Captains Meeting 12 am – Accounting Closes 6 am – Closing Ceremonies

15 F UNDRAISING I NFORMATION The $100 T-Shirt Minimum This money MUST be online Deadlines: April 2 nd (passed) – to get shirt at bank night April 14 th – to get shirt at Relay

16 Club Cure Individual raises $1000 and receives a t-shirt Levels for teams to receive a sign $2000-$3,999 Bronze $4000-$5,999 Silver $6000-$7,999 Gold $8000-$9,999 Gold Plus $10,000-$14,999- Platinum INCENTIVES PROGRAM

17 We will have a designated grilling area and possibly an area for teams to have access to electrical outlets Ideas: Super Mario Bros tournament, smoothies, pizza, baked goods Make sure to fill out an on-site fundraiser form at the front and turn it in by April 13 th (sites will be determined based on order received) – fill one out TONIGHT Bring money to purchase things night-of! We will not have any free food. O N -S ITE F UNDRAISERS

19 B ANK N IGHTS Where: Illini Union Rooms 209, 211, 215, 217 When: Tuesday, April 20 th and Wednesday, April 21 st, 2-8 pm Sign up for a 15 minute slot! Why: It is necessary for every Team Captain to attend one of the two Bank Nights You will be able to turn in any cash or checks You will pick your team camp site on a first-come, first- serve basis You will receive important logistical information You can pick up t-shirts
