2 Photographers Mathew Brady Born 1822 in Warren County, NY Died January 5, 1896 in NYC, NY Spent most of his life resided in New York Richard Avedon Born May 15, 1923 in NYC, NY Died October 1, 2004 in San Antonio, TX Lived in New York City until later moving to Texas

3 Historical Information Mathew Brady Was the first photographer to undertake the photographic documentation of the American Civil War Richard Avedon Used photography to portray many great themes that could only be done with photographs
