Presentation on theme: "Nucleus Nucleolus Nuclear Membrane Cell Membrane Mitochondrion"— Presentation transcript:

1 Game must describe these Organelles and Cell Structures and tell what they do
Nucleus Nucleolus Nuclear Membrane Cell Membrane Mitochondrion Cytoplasm Endoplasmic Reticulum Ribosome Golgi Body Lysosome Vacuole Cell Wall (plant cells) Chloroplast (plant cells) *Game must also include a way of showing the difference between animal and plant cells

2 Cell Organelle Definitions
Nucleus—Directs all the activities of the cell and contains the DNA Nucleolus—Helps make ribosomes Nuclear Membrane—Acts as a barrier between the nucleus and the cytoplasm; helps control the flow of materials in and out of the nucleus Cell Membrane—Helps protect the cell from the outside and controls the flow of materials in and out of the cell Cytoplasm—Region between the cell membrane and the nucleus

3 Cell Organelle Definitions (cont.)
Mitochondria—Organelles that help produce energy for the cell Vacuole—Large round sac in the cytoplasm that stores materials (water, food, etc.) Lysosome—small round organelle that helps digest food Endoplasmic Reticulum—Network of tubes in the cell which helps transport materials Golgi Body—Group of membranes that help “package” materials for transport out of the cell

4 Cell Organelle Definitions (cont.)
Ribosomes—small organelles that help make proteins Cell Wall (plants)—Outermost structure in a plant cell made of cellulose; this structure helps provide strength to the cell structure Chloroplast (plants)—Plant cell organelle which helps with the process of photosynthesis
