Drill Solve the linear system by substitution. 1.y = 6x – 11 -2x – 3y = -7 2.-4x + y = 6 -5x – y = 21

3
Drill Solve the linear system by substitution. 1.y = -3x + 5 5x – 4y = -3 2. -3x + 3y = 4 -x + y = 3

TODAY IN ALGEBRA… Learning Goal: 7.3 You will solve systems of linear equations by Elimination Independent Practice Ch. 7.1-7.3 Quiz on Monday

7.3 SOLVING LINEAR SYSTEMS BY ELIMINATION STEPS FOR SOLVING A LINEAR SYSTEM BY ELIMINATION: STEP 1: Multiply the equations if necessary so one of the variables in both equations have the same coefficient. STEP 2: Add or subtract the equations to eliminate one variable. STEP 3: Solve the resulting equation for the other variable. STEP 4: Substitute in either original equation to find the value of the eliminated variable. THIS IS MUCH EASIER WITH AN EXAMPLE!
