3. + TUNISIA Tunisia is mountainous towards the north the mountains are called the Atlas mountains. The climate is usually wet in the winter and hot and dry in the summer. The ancient part is called medina and that is were the Muslims live. It has changed a little over the years. There is also a famous mosque and roman baths. They sell carpets, pottery,leather and metal goods. Their neighbours are Algeria to the west and Libya to East. Evergreens oaks and cork trees grow on hills.

4. T UNISIA HISTORY Tunis was the home of Hannibal. And in 218 bc he took elephants over the alps to try conquer Rome. Later Tunisia became a part of the roman empire. In the 7 th century, Muslim Arabs conquered north Africa. And from the 16 th century Tunisia was part of the Ottoman Empire and in 1956 Tunisia became its own country.
