2 Charlemagne’s sword  Charlemagne was a King of France.  He conquered many neighbouring countries.  He was crowned Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 800.

3 Hamurabi’s Code  The earliest set of laws discovered  Date from 2000 years before Christ.

4 Mona Lisa ( La Joconde )  Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous painting.

5 Josephine’s Bed  The Empress Josephine was the wife of Napoleon.  This beautiful bed belonged to her.

6 Medieval Treasure  This treasure comes from a Church  It used to hold a relic of a saint  It dates from the 16th century

7 Greek artefacts  This is part of the frieze from the Parthenon in Athens.

8 Sumer  These figures once guarded a temple in ancient Sumer.

9 Venus de Milo  The most famous statue in the world.

10 Winged Victory of Samothrace

11 Treasure Box  A medieval gold treasure box.

12 Chess set  This Chess set belonged to Louis X (14th century)

13 Crown Jewels  These were last worn by Emperor Napoleon III and his wife

14 Egypt  The Louvre has one of the best Egyptian collections outside Egypt.

15 Mummy cases.  There are many mummy cases like these.

16 City gates.  These are the huge city gates of Darius, the Persian king.
