Does anyone know what Impressionism is? Do you know what an art movement is?

Impressionism The Impressionists’ works rarely respond to political events Its content is very different from the Realists’ focus on social commentary
Realism (or naturalism) in the arts is the attempt to represent subject matter truthfully, without artificiality and avoiding artistic conventions, implausible, exotic and supernatural elements.
Impressionism Impressionism started as a derogatory term, but as the work found fans, the name stuck in a positive way

The Impressionists were REBELS They painted “ PLEIN AIR ” meaning outside and not in a studio.

The Rubric The majority of colors on reproduction match the original 25 pts A sketch is made in pencil and shown to teacher before color is applied 25 pts There is absolutely no white left of the paper 25 pts No rips or folds in the paper 25 pts. Total 100 pts
For the the rest of the class period we will work on a work sheet in groups on pastel techniques.
