3. EXAMPLE 1 : How many ml are there in 4 fl oz? Step 1: Look at the table what relates ml and fl oz. 1 TABLESPOON (T) 15 ml or cc 1 FLUID OUNCE ( 1 fl oz) 30 ml or cc 1 QUART ( 1 qt) 960 ml or cc

4. Step 2 : Place this info into the “what we know” WHAT WE KNOW WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW 1 fl oz = 30 ml Step 3: Place the amount to be converted into the “ What we need to know”. Make sure the units match!! 4 fl oz = x ml

5. Step 4: Cross multiply 1 fl oz = 30 ml 4 fl oz = x * ÷ x = X = 120 ______ ml

6. EXAMPLE 2 : 400 lb = _______ kg? Step 1: Look at the table what relates lb and kg. 1 lb0.454 kg 16 oz0.454 kg 2.2 lb1 kg

7. Step 2 : Place this info into the “what we know” WHAT WE KNOW WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW 1 lb = 0.454 kg Step 3: Place the amount to be converted into the “ What we need to know”. Make sure the units match!! 400 lb = x kg

8. Step 4: Cross multiply 1 lb = 0.454 kg 400 lb= x kg * ÷ x = X = 181.6 ______ kg
