4. Three types of abnormal cell division involving chromosome 21 occurs Trisomy 21- 3 copies of chromosome 21 90% of Down Syndrome cases Mosaic Syndrome- some cells have an extra copy of chromosome 21 Translocation Syndrome- a chromosome attaches to another chromosome before or during conception

5. One in every 691 babies in the U.S. is born with D.S. There are more than 400,000 people in the US live with D.S. D.S. occurs in people of all races and economic levels D.S. people used to only live until 25 but with recent advances in medicine they can now live to 60!
