3 Introduction Theme of the book again, “Rejoice in the Lord” Rejoicing based on commitment to the Lord not on being satisfied with earthly circumstances When we lose our commitment to the Lord, we lose ability to rejoice As he rejoiced, Paul’s heart and mind were guarded by God’s peace

4 Introduction Many seek for peace but fail to find it They make peace depend on calm earthly circumstances God’s peace allows Christians to not be anxious in the midst of earthly trials God’s peace allows Christians to rejoice, be grateful and faithful even in trials Paul reveals how we can receive this peace and some of its benefits

5 The Peace of God 1.Stand firm in the Lord 2.Help others to be at peace 3.Rejoice in the Lord 4.Be gentle 5.Be prayerful and thankful 6.Peace of God will guard you 7.Dwell on and practice all things of the gospel

6 Stand Firm In The Lord Php 4:1 Therefore, my beloved brethren whom I long to see, my joy and crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.

7 Stand Firm In The Lord Php 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

8 Help Others To Be At Peace Php 4:2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to live in harmony in the Lord. Php 4:3 Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

9 Help Others To Be At Peace Rom 14:16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; Rom 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

10 Help Others To Be At Peace Rom 14:19 So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. Rom 14:20 Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense.

11 Help Others To Be At Peace Php 2:2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Php 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;

12 Help Others To Be At Peace Php 2:4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Php 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

13 Rejoice In The Lord Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!

14 Rejoice In The Lord 1Th 5:16 Rejoice always; 1Th 5:17 pray without ceasing; 1Th 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

15 Be Gentile Php 4:5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.

16 Be Gentile Jas 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. Jas 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. Jas 3:18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

17 Be Gentile Tit 3:1 Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, Tit 3:2 to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.

18 Be Prayerful And Thankful Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

19 Be Prayerful And Thankful Mat 6:24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

20 Be Prayerful And Thankful Mat 6:25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Mat 6:31 "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'

21 Be Prayerful And Thankful Mat 6:32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Mat 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

22 Be Prayerful And Thankful 1Pe 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 1Pe 5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

23 Be Prayerful And Thankful 2Co 12:7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me--to keep me from exalting myself! 2Co 12:8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.

24 Be Prayerful And Thankful 2Co 12:9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2Co 12:10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

25 Peace Of God Will Guard You Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

26 Peace Of God Will Guard You Joh 16:32 "Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. Joh 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

27 Peace Of God Will Guard You Rom 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Rom 5:2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

28 Dwell On And Practice All Things Of The Gospel Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Php 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

29 Dwell On And Practice All Things Of The Gospel Pro 23:6 Do not eat the bread of a selfish man, Or desire his delicacies; Pro 23:7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, "Eat and drink!" But his heart is not with you.

30 Dwell On And Practice All Things Of The Gospel Rom 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

31 The Peace of God 1.Stand firm in the Lord 2.Help others to be at peace 3.Rejoice in the Lord 4.Be gentle 5.Be prayerful and thankful 6.Peace of God will guard you 7.Dwell on and practice all things of the gospel
