16 Almighty God, Your Word Is Cast CW # 324 Verses 1-4
Text: John Cawood, Setting: DUNDEE Tune: The CL Psalms of David, Edinburgh, 1615

17 Verse 1: Almighty God, your Word is cast Like seed into the ground; Now let the dew of heav'n descend And righteous fruits abound.

18 Verse 2: Let not the foe of Christ and man This holy seed remove, But give it root in ev'ry heart To bring forth fruits of love.

19 Verse 3: Let not the world's deceitful cares The rising plant destroy, But let it yield a hundredfold The fruits of peace and joy.

20 Verse 4: Whene'er the precious seed is sown, Life-giving grace bestow That all whose souls the truth receive Its saving pow'r may know.

21 Opening Verses Pastor: In the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen. Pastor: Lord, how I love your law! All: I meditate on it all day long.

22 Opening Verses Pastor: Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,
All: for they are ever with me. Pastor: I have more insight than all my teachers All: for I meditate on your statutes.

23 Opening Verses Pastor: How sweet are your words to my taste,
All: sweeter than honey to my mouth!

24 Opening Verses Pastor: All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, All: so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

25 Opening Verses Pastor: Yet so often we have despised God’s Word and failed to gladly hear and learn it. For this and all our sins, we bow before God and humbly ask his forgiveness.

26 Confession of Sin All: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity.

27 Confession of Sin All: But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

28 (Pastor announces our forgiveness)
All: Amen.

29 (Pastor says the prayer of the day)
Pastor: Let us pray. (Pastor says the prayer of the day) All: Amen.

33 Jesus, My Great High Priest CW #359 Verses 1-4
Text: Isaac Watts, Setting: BEVAN Tune: John Goss,

34 Verse 1: Jesus, my great High Priest, Offered his blood and died; My guilty conscience seeks No sacrifice beside. His pow'rful blood did once atone, And now it pleads before the throne.

35 Verse 2: To Christ, my substitute, Will I commit my cause; He answers and fulfills His Father's broken laws. Behold my soul at freedom set— My Jesus paid the dreadful debt!

36 Verse 3: My advocate appears For my defense on high; A gracious Father hears And lays his thunder by. Not all that hell or sin can say Shall turn his heart, his love, away.

37 Verse 4: Should all the hosts of death And pow'rs of hell unknown Put their most dreadful forms Of rage and mischief on, I shall be safe, for Christ displays Superior pow'r and guardian grace.
