What is a proxy server? A proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application) that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers. What does a proxy server do? A proxy basically hides your IP address and lets you surf through the IP address of the server. A good proxy will offer other security features but this is the most basic thing you will need a proxy for.

What is mail server? A mail server is an application that receives incoming e-mail from local users (people within the same domain) and remote senders and forwards outgoing e- mail for delivery. What does a mail server do? A mail server can receive e-mails from client computers and deliver them to other mail servers. A mail server can also deliver e-mails to client computers. A client computer is normally the computer where you read your e-mails, for example your computer at home or in your office.

What is web browser? A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web. The two most popular browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox. Other major browsers include Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera.
