My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were six stone water pots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim.

Mary was the instrument of His first miracle. She was the initiatress of Jesus’ miraculous activity and the first benefactress of mankind. General Reflection Fulton Sheen in his book on “Life of Christ” says that the disciples accompanied Jesus for the wedding are: John, Andrew, Peter, Philip and Nathanael.

CCC969 In his encyclical Redemptoris Mater, Pope John Paul II said:encyclicalRedemptoris Mater Pope John Paul II Thus there is a mediation: Mary places herself between her Son and mankind in the reality of their wants, needs and sufferings. She puts herself "in the middle," that is to say she acts as a mediatrix not as an outsider, but in her position as mother. She knows that as such she can point out to her Son the needs of mankind, and in fact, she "has the right" to do so. Her mediation is thus in the nature of intercession: Mary "intercedes" for mankind.
