January 8: Back to school! “God loved us and sent His son” 1 John 4:10 We are getting ready for Jesus’ birthday. This is such a special time of our church year, which we call Advent. We light candles to help us count how many weeks there are until Jesus’ birthday. In honor of his birth, the Preschool will be singing during an Advent service on Wednesday, December 12 at 7:00pm. The church will have a Soup Supper at 6:00pm, and we would love to have our Little Fishers families attend! Your little ones can dress in their Christmas best, if you so choose. If you have a Christmas tree in your home, it may be out of reach of your little ones. However, you can still talk about why Christmas trees are so special. Trees point to heaven. Jesus came from heaven to be our Savior. Trees are green, which is a sign of life. This reminds you that your child is growing in many ways, including spiritually. We place gifts under the tree. Christmas gifts are a reminder of Jesus, the best gift, which God gave us on the first Christmas. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! What a tremendous success we had with our Book Fair! We sold 245 books totaling over $2218.79 in sales. That gives us over $1000 in Scholastic Dollars to spend towards enrichment for the school. To the parents who donated books in honor of your child’s teacher, another THANK YOU! The teachers are so appreciative of your generosity for our school library! On another note, we sold 197 boxes of cookies, and 14 magazine vouchers! Our highest cookie seller is Madysen Tennard, who sold 50 boxes of cookies! WOW! Thank you to all who volunteered their time to make these fundraisers a HUGE SUCCESS! Christma s Break is December 24 – January 7, 2013. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. SPIRIT NIGHT SUCCESS When you visit Spring Creek BBQ, please say “Thank You” to them for their $700 donation for our Spirit Night Fundraiser. We presented them with a picture of the classes that won the attendance contest by our new marquee that read “THANK YOU SPRING CREEK BBQ”. It is now in the store hanging up for everyone to see! Thank you to all that came out and showed your support! REMINDER: Parents, please check for your child’s “Happy Birthday Jesus” party sign-up sheets outside the classroom door.
