3. Texture Photography Texture photography is any imagery that depends on the texture of the objects in the image to create an impact.

4. Why bother with texture in photography? Adding the technique of using texture in our skill set we become better photographers. It becomes another tool we can use at any given time.

6. Detail The actual object becomes less important and the contrast of the object enhances the detail of the texture. Without contrast the detail of the texture won’t show up as well.

7. Drama Texture isn’t necessarily the important aspect, but it becomes a component of the image to spice it up. The texture must work with the rest of the overall image. Harmony must be achieved with the texture and image.

8. Information It is when the texture in the image communicates a message to the viewer. Texture helps to enhance the center of interest by adding information to it.

25. Objective Students will take notes on different types of lighting used in photography and experiment with taking multiple angles of a subject.

28. Lighting The Key light- is usually placed to one side of the subject's face, between 30 and 60 degrees off centre and a bit higher than eye level. The key light is the brightest light in the lighting plan. Soft light- is the larger light source that produces fuzzy and more diffused edges of light and shadow. Ex. Lamp light, umbrella light, and florescent light. Hard light- is the smaller light source that produces sharp edges of light and shadow. Ex. Direct light bulb, flash light, and spot light.

42. Classwork Students will take photos on the different texture types. Detail, Drama, Information. When you take photos on drama and possibly information make sure to include guidelines to creating a strong composition. Detail photos should have strong contrast (light and dark areas). Take 20 photos on the different texture types.

43. Sharing Photos Find your strongest texture photo you have taken so far in class or homework. Share that photo with your classmates. You will analyze 2 different photo and include the follow: - Name of person’s photo - 3 strengths of the photo - 1 thing they can improve on with the photo Be descriptive with what you are writing. For example don’t just ONLY say the lighting is good explain why it is good using what you see in the photograph. This is 40 points for a writing grade.

44. Homework Turn in your 3 strongest texture photos onto Flickr. You will tag these photos as “texture photo 1… texture photo 2… and etc.” Make sure photos are submitted into the group pool. This will be worth a 1000 points for a classwork grade using the rubric.

45. Reflection Look for your strongest photo you have taken today. Explain how texture helps to enhance your photo in 1 paragraph (hint think about your texture types). Remember a minimum of 5 sentences for your paragraph. 20 points for a writing grade.

46. Texture Photography Assignment You are to take 2 examples of the following types of texture photography: 1. Detail 2. Drama 3. Information So you are turning 6 photos into me. Remember to take many shots to capture that strong composition. Turning in the 6 photos will be a 100 pts and your strongest photo will be graded with a rubric for a 100 pts. The total points for this assignment are 200 pts.
