Phrasal verbs Phrasal verbs are verbs which are followed by one or more particles. Looking forward to, look up, run out of Phrasal verbs can be: Literal – They keep the same meaning of the verb When the bell rang all the kids ran out of the classroom and left school. Idiomatic – They change the meaning of the original verb. Oh no! we run out of gas and the nearest gas station is five miles from here!

PHRASAL VERBS Phrasal verbs can be: Separable –They can be separated Example: put off – put the meeting off put off the meeting put it off never: put off it

PHRASAL VERBS Phrasal verbs can be: Inseparable –They cannot be separated Example: come across I came across some pictures. I came across them. Never: I came some pictures across.
