INTRODUCTION I will be talking about the PIR Motion Sensor. I will be talking about the PIR Motion Sensor. Within this presentation, I will be talking about the PIR Motion Sensor and how motion sensors are used in the industry. WHAT IS A SENSOR? A sensor is something which is able to detect or measure something which is physical, which is then recorded by the sensor, the sensor then indicates or responds to something depending on the type of sensor it is. A sensor is something which is able to detect or measure something which is physical, which is then recorded by the sensor, the sensor then indicates or responds to something depending on the type of sensor it is. There are numerous amounts of sensors which offer different features and functions, such as thermal and temperature sensors, proximity and motion sensors, light sensors, pressure sensor and many more. WHAT IS A PIR MOTION SENSOR ? A PIR motion sensor is a type of sensor which detects motion or anything which is moving, such as people. A PIR motion sensor is a type of sensor which detects motion or anything which is moving, such as people. A motion detector is mostly integrated as a component of a system which automatically performs a given task when motion is detected, such as alerting its users of motion being detected. EXAMPLES OF MOTION SENSORS A few examples of where motion sensors are used in are Automatic doors Automatic doors Burglar or security alarm systems Burglar or security alarm systems Lights which turn on depending on motion Lights which turn on depending on motion

HOW I USED PIR IN CLASS I was able to create and use a PIR motion sensor in class by using a breadboard, a speaker and a LED (light – emitting diode). I had connected all the components onto a single breadboard, when motion was detected by the sensor, it will turn on the LED and sound the alarm. HOW THEY’RE USED IN INDUSTRIES? These type of sensors are used throughout many different industries around the world, the most popular reason would be for automatic doors, which have motion sensors on them and opens and closes the doors when motion is detected, these type of sensors are available from local supermarkets to airports as they are quite useful.
