3 Farming is a set of activities devoted to producing food and other products from the land Potatoes, dairy products, apples, blueberries, strawberries and cranberries The food production and processing industries of New Brunswick are important components of the provincial economy The agriculture sector is diverse, combining 3,034 farms with 100 processing plants to produce $1.13 billion worth of agri-food and beverage products

4 Most of the forest resource is owned by the Government The Government limits the amount of timber that can be cut each year (allowable annual cut AAC) New Brunswick is the largest producer in the Maritimes Irving is the main producer The forestry industry is also a crucial part of the provincial economy, directly employing about 17,000 people and indirectly employing an additional 6,000

5 Mining refers to activities that take mineral substances from the earth Use to produce: heavy equipment construction materials, heating fuel, household appliances, and more. Mineral exploration and mining play a significant role in the provincial economy

6 Fishing used to be the main industry in New Brunswick The government closed cod fishery in 1992 Aquaculture or fish farming is a new way to produce fish New Brunswick is the fourth largest exporter of fish and seafood products in Canada with a value of $832 million, exporting nearly 100,000 tonnes of fish and seafood

The purpose of this project is to create a video or a pamphlet for a tourism attraction in the Maritimes (New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland)

17 1)Design your pamphlet before using Word 2)Enter all the information and find pictures online that you will be using 3)Your draft should contain: - The name of the attraction (front) - A map to show how to get there and the address (back) - The location using latitude and longitude - A slogan that you created (front) - A description of the place (history, business hours, etc.) -Facts and activities available for the public (things that would attract people) -The website of the attraction
