1 THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH The Executive Office of the President established in Article II of the Constitution

2 The Executive Branch of the United States is headed by the President It also includes the Vice President, the President's Cabinet, and all Executive Agencies

3 CONSTITUTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PRESIDENCY must be 35 a natural born U.S. citizen must have lived in the country for 14 years the only expressed, or written, qualifications in the Constitution

4 The President has many roles, sometimes called the "hats" of the President

5 Chief Executive makes sure that federal laws are enforced, appoints officials, issues executive orders

6 Chief Diplomat responsible for dealing with other countries, making treaties, appointing ambassadors

7 Chief Legislator proposes many laws to Congress, tries to push them through, can call a special session of Congress

8 Commander in Chief head of the armed forces of the United States. sends troops to other countries

9 Chief of Party leader of his or her political party

10 Chief of State symbol of the country

22 Independent agencies and regulatory commissions are controlled by the President, who is the head of the Executive branch. There are many people employed by the Executive branch - in fact, about 3 million!!!!
