While intended primarily for personal use, some find it useful for teaching the lesson in church. There are those, however, who add illustrations, change background, adjust font size, etc. While their intention may be good, this is not right. Slide #1 says “designed by claro ruiz vicente.” For honest Christians, it is not necessary for another’s creation to be copyrighted in order to be respected. P LEASE U SE A S I S.

Evangelism and Witnessing Our Goal {167} TO INCREASE A person’s store of biblical knowledge. To use that knowledge for good, and in this context the greatest good is to give those who faced eternal destruction the opportunity for eternal life.

Evangelism and Witnessing Lesson 12, June 23 Evangelism and Witnessing Lesson 12, June 23 Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism Key Text Proverbs 25:12 NLT “ TO ONE WHO listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry.”

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism Initial Words {301} TOO OFTEN WE are satisfied with minimal results through evangelism when we could have had greater impact and significantly better success if we had evaluated previous witnessing and evangelistic endeavors and allowed our findings to influence future direction and strategy.

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism Quick Look 1. Reasons for Evaluating (2 Corinthians 13:5, 6) 2. Evaluating for Spiritual Growth (1 Samuel 16:7) 3. Evaluating for Church Growth (Revelation 14:6, 7)

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism 1. Reasons for Evaluating 2 Corinthians 13:5, 6 NKJV “EXAMINE YOURSELVES AS to whether you are in the faith. Prove yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.”

1.Reasons for Evaluating A Serious Part {302} WHEREVER AND WHENEVER people have expectations there will be evaluation. When God’s Word sets a standard, expects or prescribes specific actions, or issues a command, our responses are open to evaluation.

1.Reasons for Evaluating Evaluate Kindly {303} If we are overly active in evaluation and focus mostly on the negatives, there is the potential to create a critical environment that will discourage and decrease your pool of volunteers. To avoid evaluation being perceived as criticism, it must be accompanied by genuine affirmation.

1.Reasons for Evaluating Evaluate Kindly {303} To be fair in evaluation, we must evaluate not only the outcomes but also the processes. Outcome evaluation asks whether a program achieved its planned results. Process evaluation reviews internal project management.

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism 2. Evaluating for Spiritual Growth 1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV “B UT THE L ORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’ ”

2. Evaluating for Spiritual Growth Old and New Members {305} W HILE IT IS relatively easy to monitor and evaluate numerical growth, it is true that there is more to church than numbers. We want to fill it with people who are growing in their relationship with Jesus, who love the Lord, and who express that love in obedience to His commandments.

2. Evaluating for Spiritual Growth Old and New Members {305} How do we, as sinners in need of divine grace ourselves, evaluate something as “intangible” as the spirituality of others? There is no documented spirituality scale against which we can evaluate personal spirituality.

2. Evaluating for Spiritual Growth Old and New Members {305} It is therefore more appropriate and profitable to consider whether each believer is on a spiritual journey, rather than to determine at what point he or she is on that journey. Indications of a spiritual journey are the spiritual disciplines in which we become involved.

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism 3. Evaluating for Church Growth Revelation 14:6, 7 NKJV “THEN I SAW another angel…having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth…saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea….’”

3. Evaluating for Church Growth Fulfilling Her Purpose {306} THE SEVENTH-DAY Adventist Church has been raised up at this particular time in earth’s history as part of God’s plan to take the gospel to the world. We exist to win souls for the kingdom.

Evaluating how we are doing is a method of keeping true to the task in the most effective way possible. Any evaluation of what the church does should be an assessment of how the evangelism and witnessing strategies are affecting church growth. 3. Evaluating for Church Growth Fulfilling Her Purpose {306}

Evaluating Witnessing and Evangelism Final Words {306} “JESUS MADE A very powerful and blunt statement that if you are not with Him, you are against Him (Matthew 12:30), that if you are not gathering with Him, you are scattering. Are you gathering or scattering?
