Scientists have two theories about the formation of the Hawaiian Islands. Unlike most volcanoes, the Hawaiian chain sits squarely in the middle of the Pacific plate rather than on a tectonic boundary. Kilauea has had 61 recorded eruptions in the current cycle, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, and has been erupting on a continuous basis since 1983. Kilauea appears to be part of the larger volcano Mauna Loa, but geological data indicates that it is a separate volcano with its own vent and conduit system.

Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and is located on the Southeastern side of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a shield- type volcano which makes up the volcano forces it to rise 4,190 feet (1,227 meters) above sea level and is about 14 percent of the land area of the Big Island in Hawaii.

It all started with the lava oozing out of the volcano on June 27. The flow came to a standstill in about late September then resumed in slow advance again, On October 25, the front of the lava being approximately about 50m wide by 75m in length away from a residence’s home. Then most recently on November 10 th 2014 the lava reached and burned an unoccupied home on private property near the transfer station on Apa`a Rd. The main flow went by, and after stalling near the Pahoa Village Rd begin to widened on a upslope near the transfer station and looks like it will continue to spread. The village of Pahoa is on evacuation a recommend to find other homes on the other side of the island. I think that this is happening because of the tectonic plates are shifting within the Earth, causing it to be forced upwards and out in vast amounts which is making in spread quickly through Kilauea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3MwoanviEo

This topic of the Volcano Eruption in Hawaii interested me because, it is one of nicest places I have travelled to. I don’t think this will impact tourism much because mostly people that are on the island are residents. Though this might cause some travels to be hesitate on wanting to be in the cities surrounding due to the amount of continuous volcano eruptions. Hawaii can be very relaxing and luxurious place to vacation but the weather can differ causing many environmental impacts like volcanoes.

Volcano in Hawaii been erupting since 1983 Continuing with most active eruption being November 12/2014 near the village Pahoa is on evacuation and is recommend to find other homes on the other side of the island Tectonic Plates where the Earth's surface is made up of a series of large plates (like pieces of a giant jigsaw puzzle). These plates are in constant motion travelling at a few centimeters per year. The ocean floors are continually moving, spreading from the centre and sinking at the edges.
